April 6, 2006—Balco, Inc., has received the contract to bring the Time Warner Center in compliance with NYC local law using GlowZONE/ecoglo and Balco IllumiTread products, according to Balco.
The photoluminescent safety egress system will insure continuous compliance with NYC Local Law 26. Jim Armour, president and CEO of Balco, says, “We know from our 37 years of experience that our IllumiTread stair nosing will most likely be in place for the life of this building. GlowZONE/ecoglo and Balco have worked diligently to design and develop a life safety system that all Time Warner Center residents can rely on to provide a durable and safe ‘egress pathway’ to guide them to safety in times of emergency.”
The durable design of the system is based on a process that heat-fuses the photoluminescent pigment to an aluminum substrate, and the five-year warranty on the material and installation reduces, if not eliminates, any cost exposures for this period, according to Balco. The Balco/GlowZONE warranty states that the product will be in place for five years.
