January 16, 2002—Barton Protective Services Inc., a provider of contract security services, will sponsor BOMA’s oldest awards program, The Office Building of the Year “TOBY” Awards. The TOBY Awards program recognizes quality in office building operations and awards excellence in office building management. Barton will be the official sponsor of the TOBY Awards program and international banquet beginning in 2002.
The TOBY Awards program, currently in its 17th year, is a 16-month cycling program that begins with the formal Call for Entries and concludes with the annual TOBY Awards banquet at BOMA’s annual convention in June. Buildings can enter 13 different categories, ranging from under 100,000 square feet to over one million square feet, from historical buildings to corporate facilities, and from industrial office park to suburban office parks.
A building inspection tour and a portfolio are required to illustrate community impact, tenant/employee relations, energy management systems and procedures, building accessibility, emergency evacuation procedures, and training for building personnel.
After local, regional and international competitions, BOMA and Barton will bestow the highest honor in the commercial real estate industry to 13 property owners and managers with the TOBY Award at BOMA International’s Annual Convention in Chicago, Illinois, June 25, 2002.
