British Airways has commenced the pre-qualification stage of its project to re-engineer the way it procures and delivers workplace services.
The Workplace 2002 initiative launched earlier this year follows a decision to implement what the airline calls its Total Resource and Infrastructure Management (TRIM) Workplace Services Platform.
BA says the intention is to move workplace services towards an integrated and flexible solution. Key benefits, it says, will include increased business synergies, economies of scale and supplier rationalisation, plus an improved environment for customers, employees and visitors.
The review of services to workplaces across BA’s 1m sq m (10.8m sq ft) property portfolio has been triggered by the expiry of all the airline’s key FM contracts at the end of March 2002.
