BCO’s new guide assists in handover of office buildings

January 29, 2007—The British Council for Offices (BCO) has launched a new guide designed to assist in achieving a successful handover of an office building. Intended to be a generic guide for landlords and occupants, it sets out the issues that the service provider and client face from inception, including lease agreements, due diligence procedures, and terms, through to the occupant operating its business from the premises.

The handover guide is designed whether it is a new build or existing building, single- or multi-occupancy, large scale or relatively small the process should be the same. The guide is intended to provide all involved with a checklist of what is required in terms of legal obligations, warranties, and insurances, and other issues.

The BCO advises that the guide, which was sent electronically to all BCO members early January 2007, be used by property and non-property professionals alike.
