October 22, 2001—BEA Systems, Inc., and Peregrine Systems, Inc., have entered into an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement under which BEA will bundle Peregrine’s real-time data transformation engine, Power.Enterprise!, with BEA WebLogic Integration 2.1. BEA is a leading e-Business infrastructure software company and Peregrine is a global software company.
The agreement helps enable BEA WebLogic Integration to provide a turnkey solution for businesses that want to leverage existing electronic data interchange (EDI) as well as extend electronic trading to new partners or market segments via Internet-based technologies. Businesses use EDI to transmit purchase orders, invoices, or other business data between companies.
Under terms of the agreement, BEA WebLogic Integration 2.1 will embed Peregrine’s next-generation, Java-based Power.Enterprise! technology. As a result, BEA WebLogic Integration will deliver EDI support, EDI message processing and handling, and value-added network connectivity. The solution will help automate the inter-company processes and transactions of BEA WebLogic customers when connecting EDI systems and Internet-based systems using Extensible Mark-up Language (XML).
