BIFM launches sustainability project for FMs

May 24, 2006—The British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) has launched a sustainability project that will offer free tools and information on sustainability for facilities managers.

Over a two-year period, the project will develop the necessary tools and information for facilities managers to be able to incorporate sustainability into their existing building stock, says BIFM. The project will also show how sustainable development can be applied to everyday decision-making.

BIFM said a Web-based knowledge portal would be developed for the FM community, and workshops and training sessions would be introduced to engage the industry.

Alongside this, BIFM intends to publish a best practice guide and will start to integrate sustainability into professional training for members. BIFM is currently searching for project partners to help manage the project.
