BIFMA online ergonomics guide helps evaluate office furniture

The “Ultimate Test for Fit for Individual Users,” part of BIFMA’s Ergonomics Guideline for VDT Furniture Used in Office Work Spaces, can be used to determine if computer furniture fits employees. The ergonomics guideline, issued in January, 2001 by Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Organization (BIFMA), shows how to apply the principles found in ISO 9241 (the international standard for computer workstations) to office workspaces. The “Ultimate Test” brochure is now available online as a pdf file. A provisional version of the complete guideline has been released for a six-month public comment period and is also available from BIFMA.
