June 9, 2004—Stainless Steel Spikes Needle Strips are designed to keep birds off of roofs, ledges, gutters, window sills, statues, beams, trees, air conditioners, boat covers, awnings, signs, cables, and more. The spikes project from the base creating a full (4.5 inches), dense, and sharply pointed barrier so birds cannot land (not lethal, just very uncomfortable, says the company).
The strips have been improved for ease of use with molded “outrigger” stabilizers (or “feet”) in the base. Projecting every 8 inches, these stabilizers, keep the strips balanced during installation, making the installation an easy, one-man job. Center spikes prevent birds from roosting between projections. Holes every inch along the base allow easy attachment with screws or nails, or adhesive (which forms a “rivet” through the hole), wire ties, or other fasteners.
Spikes are made of ST302 Hard Surgical Grade Stainless Steel. Spikes modules are two feet long, and each strip locks seamlessly with the next. Excess length snaps off for a precise fit with no wasted material. Spiked metal projections come pre-assembled in the base to reduce installation labor.
The base is UV-inhibited polycarbonate, a heavy-duty plastic resistant to virtually all weather and harsh environments. The base is flexible and installs easily on regular linear surfaces plus concave (round windows) or convex curves (arches), or even irregular surfaces (statues and curved sign-letters).
The combination of steel and polycarbonate materials is both affordable and effective. Extra-wide (8-inch-spread) and slim (2-inch-spread), ideal for shallow ledges abutting walls) strips are available, as are custom colors.
In addition to Stainless Steel Spikes, Bird-X supplies a full line of environmentally friendly bird and pest control products. Spikes are available immediately, from $55 per kit.
