November 21, 2001—The Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE) was recently endorsed by the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) as an accredited ergonomics certifying body, according to a report in Ergonomics Today. This endorsement is the first of its kind, making the BCPE the only IEA-endorsed ergonomics certification body in the world. The IEA supports ergonomics worldwide. The BCPE provides voluntary certification to ergonomics/human factors professionals broadly competent in applying ergonomics to products, processes, and environments.
