BOMA and Barton Protective Services launch online training for building security

June 12, 2002—Barton Protective Services has written and developed an “eSeminar” on Building Security and Evacuation Planning to help property managers and security directors better understand security threats, deflect risks, and plan for emergencies. Offered through the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International’s [HELENE: LIVE LINK TO http://www.boma.org/index2.htm] elearning platform, individuals can train from any location with an Internet connection.

Barton Protective Services’ training program identifies the increased risks that are now part of the American landscape since September 11. The program is divided into 10 learning modules averaging 15 to 20 minutes each that can be completed in four hours. Using full motion video, audio, and graphics, users are engaged in activities such as determining a specific property’s threat profile, assessing a property’s strengths and weaknesses, and identifying threats and learning how to manage them before they become a reality. A workbook, direct email access to the presenter, online tests, full-time technical support center, and a Certificate of Completion round out the program, which is also sponsored by ADT Security Services and Wheelock.
