Making the Standard Method for Measuring Floor Area In Office Buildings (ANSI/BOMA Standard Z65.1-1996) easily available, Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) has launched it as an Internet-based version of its popular BOMA publication. It is now accessible to its membership of more than 18,000 commercial real estate professionals and thousands of industry users.
“Measuring office space is serious business to commercial real estate professionals,” said BOMA President Richard D. Baier, managing director of CB Richard Ellis in Kansas City, Missouri. “Making a minor measuring mistake of just one-quarter of an inch can result in thousands of dollars of lost revenue every year,” explains Baier.
Participants can access and complete the e-Seminar at any time at http://www.inet-e-seminars.com/boma. Course content consists of three modules: “History of the Standard,” “Overview of the Method,” and “Application of Measurement Principles.” The modules can be taken at separate times or all in one session. Total estimated learning time is three hours, or one hour per module. Students can print out the official ANSI/BOMA Standard Z65.1 1996 and the e-Seminar workbook. Students can also e-mail questions to BOMA, access FAQs, and take online quizzes after each module.
