BOMA Supports IWCA’s Safety Standards

Because a policy on window cleaning safety standards does not exist, BOMA’s Building Codes and Voluntary Standards Committee and the Board of Governors have issued the following policy statement in support of the developing I-14 draft standard of the International Window Cleaning Association (IWCA):

“BOMA International supports development of a national safety standard for window cleaning operations. Any window cleaning safety standard must address safety in a manner that is fair, reasonable, achievable and cost-effective. Window cleaning safety regulations must be based on reliable data, not market forces. With the exception of a few issues of concern, BOMA fully supports the approach that the IWCA I-14 has taken. BOMA will continue to work to ensure that these concerns are addressed, leading to a consistent and comprehensive safety standard.”

If adopted, the IWCA I-14 would become the most widely recognized standard relating specifically to window cleaning safety, asserts BOMA.
