Lawrence G. Perry, AIA, codes consultant for the Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA) International, was awarded the Albert H. Baum Award by the Building Officials & Code Administrators (BOCA) International for “most outstanding contributions to the code enforcement profession.”
Perry has been active in code development with BOCA and the two other regional model code organizations—the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) and the Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI), as well as with the International Code Council. He has played a significant role in the development of both federal and model accessibility standards. Additionally, he has authored two guidebooks for BOMA on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). He also wrote BOMA’s Emergency Planning Guidebook: A Blueprint for Developing Your Building’s Response, and a forthcoming sequel to BOMA’s security and emergency planning guidebooks. Among his numerous industry activities, he has developed and conducted ADA seminars; has testified before the federal government on ADA issues, was a representative on the ADA Accessibility Guidelines Review committee.
