British security association offers guide on biometrics

June 27, 2005—The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has produced a new technical guide to provide practical information for end-users on biometric security solutions.

The “Users’ Practical Guide to Biometrics” outlines factors to consider concerning the use of biometrics, and offers practical advice on choosing the right biometric, understanding the technology, and deciphering the jargon.

A biometric is the automated means of recognizing a living person by either a physiological or behavioral trait unique to an individual, such as by fingerprint, facial recognition, hand geometry, or iris recognition.
