BSIF announces safety & health product innovation awards

June 8, 2005—The British Safety Industry Federation has announced the Safety & Health Expo Product Innovation Awards, which encourage companies to develop innovative products that will improve occupational health and safety and reduce workplace injuries. The award winners are:

    Overall Award Winner

  • Sonocustom Hearing Protection, submitted by Hagemeyer UK Limited. This product is designed to give custom-fitted ear protection in the workplace or public areas where noise levels exceed the safety limit, while allowing the user to carry on normal conversations and to be able to hear alarms and warning signals.

    Highly Commended Award

  • Concept Safety Helmet, submitted by Centurion Safety Products Limited. This product is designed as a general-purpose safety helmet for use in specialized industrial environments.

    Award Winner

  • Driver Profiler, submitted by RoSPA. This service is designed to assess the safety of driving shown by employees, whether commercial/HGV driving or driving to meetings on behalf of a company. It is in the form of a risk assessment and seeks to establish if employees need a dedicated training program.

  • Wrappa, submitted by SpanSet Limited. This product is designed to promote safety on scaffolding structures by providing an attachment for fall arrest equipment without replacing existing lanyards.

  • Screenmate LCD Monitor Arm, submitted by Score BV. This product is designed to adjust the height and position of LCD (flat panel) computer screens for a wide range of users and applications, both at home and in the workplace.
