Buildy Awards honor leaders in building systems integration

August 14, 2006—Attendees at the BuilConn conference in Palm Springs recently selected winners for the third annual Buildy Awards. The North American organizations and individuals that were chosen are considered leaders in whole building systems integration and interoperability. The awards were designed to increase awareness of the benefits of whole building integration and honor successful implementation strategies. Winners include:

  • Vision: John J. “Jack” Mc Gowan, President, Energy Control Inc., for his vision of whole building integration and interoperability through advocacy, promotion, educational, and training endeavors;

  • Initiative (new): Cisco Systems, Inc., for Cisco Connected Real Estate (CCRE), a framework that promotes the convergence of IT and building systems producing the next generation of intelligent environments;

  • Best Integration Project: Cyrus Technologies, Inc., for the Enterprise Building Management System integration project at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, designed to deploy a truly open architected enterprise system for managing many disparate building automation technologies;

  • Best New Product: Gridlogix, Inc., in honor of the EnNET Enterprise Server (EES), which enables businesses to efficiently manage the multi-system complexity found in most modern facilities; and

  • Best Building: The Boeing Company, accepted by LonMark International for The Boeing Company’s commercial airplane facility in Long Beach, CA, in honor of the most progressive building technology supporting the vision of whole building integration.
