June 28, 2002—Electric City Corporation and its distributor, Electric City of California, have been awarded $472,000 to install Electric City EnergySaver power reduction technology for lighting systems at seven California State University campuses. CSU anticipates saving over two million kWh per year for more than $200,000 in annual savings from the EnergySavers. The EnergySaver units will control lighting panels for classrooms, offices, parking lots, gymnasiums, and other locations.
The project will be funded by the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) under its innovative demand reduction program. Electric City plans to have the majority of the EnergySaver units installed and functioning at the San Diego, San Marcos, San Bernardino, Cal Poly Pomona, Fullerton, Long Beach, and Dominguez Hills campuses within the next 100 days per the terms of the agreement.
In May 2001, CSU installed its first EnergySaver unit at the Chancellor’s office in Long Beach, Calif. The University realized an average savings level of 20 percent and anticipates a payback in well under two years. Concurrent with the installation of this project, Electric City and the Chancellor’s office plan to pursue installations of the EnergySaver at additional campuses in Northern California with other available funding programs.
According to Electric City, the EnergySaver reduces electric lighting costs by 20-50% while reducing maintenance, repair, recycling, and replacement costs of both lamps and ballasts, all without rewiring. In a self- contained unit, the EnergySaver regulates the power and flow, while reducing the amount of electricity entering an establishment to the optimal amount of power for essential lighting needs. It eliminates power fluctuations and conditions the power for best quality. For more information, visit Electric City or call 847/437-1666 or 949/305- 4595 in California.
