Canada’s City of Richmond wins VFA award for capital planning and management innovation

October 25, 2004—VFA, Inc., has awarded the City of Richmond (BC) its Customer Advocate Award, established by VFA, a provider of software and services for facilities management and capital planning, to recognize its customers for their achievements in implementing strategic capital planning and management processes. The City of Richmond was selected as the recipient from more than 250 customers worldwide who have deployed VFA’s Capital Planning and Management Solutions (CPMS). A VFA client since 2000, the City of Richmond has helped influence leading capital asset planning and management strategies and advance innovation in the facilities management industry as a whole.

The City of Richmond’s facility management department implemented VFA’s capital planning software and building condition assessment methodology to develop long-range plans for the optimal management and care of public facilities. The City used VFA’s solution to achieve significant savings, from reducing emergency repair costs through more on-target planning to cutting material and procurement costs. With a proactive facility management program in place, the city’s buildings contribute to and advance its vision to become one of Canada’s more appealing, livable, and well-managed communities.
