May 3, 2002—Electronics For Imaging (EFI), a provider of software and hardware imaging solutions for network printing, and Canon USA, have announced a technology demonstration of EFI’s PrintMe Networks integrated with Canon’s new Color imageRUNNER C2058 office color printer. The Canon device is also driven by EFI’s Fiery x3e controller.
EFI’s breakthrough mobile printing technology allows users to print documents from any mobile device to any PrintMe-enabled printer without requiring cables, drivers, software, or complex setup. Canon claims to be the first printer manufacturer to show an integrated version of this new technology, which otherwise requires a PrintMe Station to be attached externally.
Canon’s high-speed Color imageRUNNER C2058 is a robust, 21 page-per-minute (ppm) color, 28 ppm in black-and-white copier/printer with easy-to-use color copying, network printing, and finishing options for color office/workgroup printing environments. EFI’s acclaimed Fiery X3e architecture is embedded to maximize productivity, speed and color quality and now, with PrintMe functionality added, will also enable remote printing from mobile devices directly to the C2058 without adding any drivers to these devices.
