October 24, 2004—Captovation, a provider of production-level and browser-based document capture software, just released the latest version of ecScan, eCapture’s production-level scanning component. ecScan now has the ability to directly interface with ISIS (Image and Scanner Interface Specification) scanning drivers, as well as with the Kofax products, Adrenaline and VRS, that it previously supported.
ISIS is a software driver technology, designed by Pixel Translations, that provides a standard interface to document scanners along with a variety of image processing features. Since most document scanner manufacturers provide ISIS drivers with their scanners, ecScan now supports over 250 document scanner models.
This new version of ecScan also features document image thumbnail support. After scanning a batch of documents, users can review the batch with thumbnails of every image displayed in three different sizes. ecScan thumbnails also have drag-and-drop functionality, so images within a batch can be easily re-ordered. Image Processing features including bar code and patch code recognition, blank page deletion, black border removal, hole removal, cropping, and others are also included with this new version.
