June 15, 2007—The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently unveiled a new Web design and format intended to improve the usability and performance of the CDC home page and major topic pages of its Web site. Additional upgrades are planned for coming months, says CDC.
According to CDC, the redesigned site has an improved layout, a more powerful search engine, and other features to help people locate needed health and science information more efficiently. CDC says its Web site averages nine million visits a month, with an average of 37 million pages viewed monthly.
The CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Web site covering workplace safety and health has also been redesigned and updated.
In addition, NIOSH has developed a new Web page for the NIOSH Docket, which is a repository of NIOSH policy products including Federal Register Notices, transcripts of public meetings, and external peer review comments.
