Celerity Energy debuts Networked Distributed Resource Management software

August 28, 2002—Celerity Energy, a leader in networked distributed generation solutions, has released its Networked Distributed Resource Management (NDRM) software, which allows owners of distributed energy resources to manage an unlimited number of distributed resource generating sites. The application works in concert with Sixth Dimension’s 6D iNet managed network service that connects devices and software applications. NDRM allows Celerity Energy to manage in an aggregated fashion an unlimited number of existing distributed resource sites as a demand response resource and/or as a peaking power resource.

NDRM software delivers information needed to better manage distributed resource generating assets and make key decisions such as when it is advantageous to make available the generating asset’s output in the wholesale market. It is scalable and will benefit the owner of the networked units or the local electric utility that may rely on the network for peaking capacity or to alleviate local transmission constraints.

Distributed resources include energy loads that can be controlled and reduced, which is often implemented by local electric utilities and independent system operators to relieve energy shortages. They also include standby generators found in many commercial buildings and industrial facilities to provide emergency power should an outage occur.

By networking and remotely controlling these underused assets as part of a Networked Distributed Resource facility, Celerity Energy offers utilities and Regional Transmission Organizations access to additional energy resources when needed. Owners of the stand-by generators benefit through on-going maintenance of their units and assurance that they will operate as designed in emergency situations.
