August 15, 2005—The UK’s Environment Agency is reminding those involved in landscaping and related activities that certain pesticides are illegal to use after September 10, 2005. These pesticides were withdrawn from sale September 10, 2004, because they have an active ingredient harmful to the environment.
They must be disposed of safely or used up before September 10. The EA says that the best way to identify these products is by their registration numbers, not the product name. For a complete list of the banned pesticides, as well as products with similar names but different registration numbers that are still usable, visit online.
