Changes in Domestic Terrorism

In its most recent report on 1995 domestic terrorism, the FBI indicates that terrorist are making fewer but more deadly attacks and are experimenting with more unconventional weapons. During 1995, terrorist supporters improved their ability to raise money, collect information, and issue rhetoric. Computers played a greater role: According to the report, public computer databases were used to distribute propaganda, find weapons information, and spread computer viruses. There has been a change in which groups pose the largest threat of terrorism. The FBI noted a “further decline in traditional left-wing domestic extremism and an increase in activities among extremists associated with right-wing groups and special interest organizations.”
