November 12, 2007—Low carbon professionals, buildings and projects are to be rewarded at a new high profile awards event that focuses on real, measurable improvements and progress rather than on problems and possible solutions.

The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) has launched the Low Carbon Performance Awards 2008 to recognize and celebrate actual, proven achievements in delivering carbon savings in buildings. The event will also publicize these achievements to the building services sector, to its clients and to the wider public.

CIBSE has already had success with two major initiatives that are helping to tackle the issue of sustainability: the Low Carbon Consultants register and the 100 Days of Carbon Clean Up campaign, notes the organization.

Categories will include: Innovation of the Year, New Build Project of the Year and Refurbishment Project of the Year.

The Low Carbon Performance Awards will take place on Feb. 6, 2008, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. The awards are organized by CIBSE and will be presented as part of the CIBSE annual dinner.
