Cinergy Solutions wins energy retrofit contract from city of Toronto

September 14, 2005—Cinergy Solutions, a North American energy solutions company, has been contracted by the city of Toronto to implement new energy efficiency measures in public arenas that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and deliver annual energy savings of approximately $1,347,000 Cdn ($1.1 million USD), the company says.

The arena retrofits project is part of the Energy Retrofit Program that was approved by the Toronto City Council in 2004. The retrofit program was created by the city to reduce building operating costs and deliver environmental benefits. This initiative is a cross-divisional effort involving the Energy and Waste Management Office in Facilities and Real Estate, and Parks, Forestry and Recreation.

As part of the arena retrofits project, Cinergy Solutions will implement facility improvements at more than 100 city-owned arenas and recreation complexes that include 126 indoor and outdoor ice pads. The improvements will include building automation systems; lighting retrofits; heat recovery systems; heating ventilation and air conditioning upgrades; building air sealing; low emissivity ceilings; brine header insulation; power factor correction equipment; and solar water heating systems, the company says.

Cinergy Solutions, an affiliate of Cinergy Corp., is one of the largest diversified energy companies in North America. For more information, visit the Web site.
