Clean Control reformulates for more biodegradable, less toxic cleaning products

June 14, 2006—Clean Control Corp. has reformulated its Earth Choice line, marketed under the company’s OdoBan brand. It did so in the wake of a four-year study at the University of California-Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory that shows human exposure to the toxin pollutants in conventional cleaning products may be harmful to health.

Working in partnership with the US EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE) formulator initiative, Clean Control’s research and development team spent several years redesigning its most successful industrial and commercial cleaning products to make them more biodegradable and less toxic.

The company says that it is not easy becoming green. The chemical substitution process is both expensive and time-consuming, beginning with the signing of a partnership agreement with the EPA titled the “Memorandum of Understanding (MOU),” a 12-page document outlining specific terms and procedures. Confidentiality is paramount because prior to changing its formulas, a partner company must list all ingredients and reveal comprehensive information about its products’ chemical compositions.

Clean Control’s reformulation process requires trust, innovation, and a true team approach in order to produce acceptable and effective alternatives to harmful chemicals. With corporate social responsibility and business ethics the new buzz phrases in today’s marketplace, few companies can argue the wisdom of embracing more environmentally positive practices, says Clean Control.
