April 18, 2008—The Climate Registry recently released the protocol that will guide its members on how to calculate and report greenhouse gas emissions. The nonprofit organization, begun in May 2007, now counts 75 corporations, nonprofits, cities, and counties from the US, Canada, and Mexico as members that have agreed to voluntarily report their emissions to the public.
Members must report emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons, and sulfur hexafluoride from operations in the three countries.
