October 27, 2004—The Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) has announced that effective January 10, 2005, it will launch a reformatted and updated exam for CM certification candidates. The new exam format will reflect current best practices and standards for international certification programs and will assist CMCI in pursuing accreditation based on ISO 17024 from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The exam was reformatted and revised in response to dynamic changes in the construction management profession, based on a recent survey by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) on the current practices of the professional construction manager, their importance to the job, and the frequency that those practices are implemented on projects.

Based on the results of the survey, CMCI modified the quantity of the CM certification exam questions to incorporate the following breakdown in percentages:
