The Colorado House of Representatives passed legislation on February 12, 2001, to exempt qualified interior designers from Colorado’s architectural practice act. The bill would give interior designers the authority to prepare and submit building plans for “interior finishes and nonstructural elements within and surrounding interior spaces of any size, height, and occupancy.”
The bill’s chief sponsor, Representative Tambor Williams (R), serves as the chair of the House Business Affairs and Labor Committee, which previously approved the measure by an eight-to-three vote. The legislation will move to be considered by the Colorado Senate.
