August 16, 2006—In an initiative designed to give them a competitive edge, a group of US service providers has established Green Clean Contractors of North America. About 130 firms have joined since the group was started last May, the majority being contract cleaners.
Member companies, largely located in the New York State and Chicago areas, agree to abide by the group’s code of ethics and use environmentally friendly products and processes. As well as using non-toxic cleaners, other green products being used by contractor members are energy saving light bulbs, no-touch sinks and water-conserving toilets.
The organization’s goal is to promote the use of Green Clean procedures and products by contractors in North America. By joining the membership program, companies agree to the organization’s code of ethics, which includes a commitment to environmentally safe practices. For more information, see the Web site.
