Contract flooring market projected to grow 2.6 percent in 2003

October 31, 2001—Ciprus Limited, a market research and consulting firm, recently completed the third edition of The North American Market for Contract Flooring, a study of the multibillion-dollar contract flooring market. The study projects that the US contract flooring market will grow to 5.8 billion square feet by 2003—an average annual growth rate of 2.6 percent. It projects the growth of the Canadian contract market to 751.6 million square feet in the same period.

The project, conducted over the past eleven months and based on more than 2,000 telephone interviews, resulted in an 871-page report and entailed intensive research into the replacement cycles, specifications, and purchase practices in the contract flooring market in the United States and Canada. It documents the current environment and emerging trends in six commercial building types: offices, retail, hospitality, healthcare, education, and government.

The study covers all contract flooring surfaces currently in use in North America, including carpet and carpet tile by fiber type, and hard surface materials such as ceramic tile, marble, synthetics, resilient sheet and tile, and wood flooring. Laminates were also included in Canada.

A copy of the completed study is available from Ciprus by calling 860/767-7685 or by sending a request via e-mail.
