Coolerado intros solar-powered air conditioner

March 6, 2009—Coolerado Corporation announced that it has revealed its revolutionary design for solar powered air conditioning systems to the general public through an online video that documents the system.

The video, which targets solar contractors, demonstrates the simplicity of simultaneously cooling air, while boosting solar power generation. Using computer animation, the video illustrates how to incorporate the affordable system into different commercial and residential building types.

“Coolerado chose to disclose the design so that wide scale deployment of the systems can occur,” said Rick Gillan, executive vice president of Coolerado. “We could have limited availability through exclusive licenses, but have chosen a broader approach that allows us to focus on our core air conditioning business.”

Any solar contractor can work with air conditioning installers in the Coolerado distribution network to pair the air conditioner with a solar photovoltaic (PV) system, explains the company. Only a few PV panels are needed to power Coolerado air conditioners, so most systems have plenty of excess power available for other electric devices.

Coolerado Corporation develops, manufactures and sells air conditioning systems that use one tenth of the energy required by the most efficient conventional systems.
