June 18, 2004—CoreNet Global, the international association of corporate real estate professionals, presented its prestigious Corporate Real Estate Leader Magazine Economic Development Leadership Award to three groups at the forefront of innovation in local economic development. The awards were presented at CoreNet Global’s recent Chicago Summit. The winning organizations follow.
Australia TradeCoast is a partnership between the Department of State Development and Innovation, the City of Brisbane’s Office of Economic Development, the Port of Brisbane Corporation and Brisbane Airport Corporation. The cooperation between government and private organizations has resulted in the coordination of the priority medium- and long-term infrastructure requirements to complement growth, 35 projects beginning construction in the region in the last year, and the creation of a framework within which the partners can effectively market Australia TradeCoast as a preferred destination for business investment.
The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce (GOCCC) has a large task in supporting 39 economic development agencies in a 10-county region. CoreNet applauds the GOCCC in its implementation of www.okcedis.com, a Web-based geographic information system technology (GIS) that enhances the process of real estate and economic development by providing detailed local, regional, and national data that facilitates faster and more informed site selection analysis.
New York’s Hudson Valley Economic Development Corporation is an alliance between the Empire State Development Corporation, Hudson River Valley Greenway, Scenic Hudson, and economic development agencies in eight counties around the Hudson River. The public-private partnership, launched on July 10, 2003, focuses on economic development and environment preservation.
