October 7, 2005—The National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) has announced that Corporate Office Properties Trust has been named its first national Green Development award winner: Corporate Office Properties Trust (COPT).
The new NAIOP award, developed in consultation with the US Green Building Council, the nation’s leading coalition of building industry leaders working to promote environmentally responsible building and development, will be presented to COPT executives during special ceremonies sponsored by XL Environmental on October 20, 2005 at NAIOP’s Annual Conference in Hollywood, Florida.
COPT’s winning entry details the green features and sustainable attributes of its property located at 318 Sentinel Drive in the National Business Park in Annapolis Junction, Md. The project is a four story, 125,000 square foot fully leased office building, which was fully leased during construction.
Some of the project’s green attributes cited by the awards committee include: highly filtered air, extremely efficient mechanical systems, water usage reduction of 40% compared to a typical office building and an extensive green housekeeping program.
