November 2, 2001—In a recent survey conducted by Atlanta-based International Development Research Council (IRDC) of more than two hundred corporate real estate executives, 60 percent said that security is becoming a bigger part of their job function. Ninety-four percent reported that they are not planning to decentralize key functions such as headquarters.
The survey was prompted by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
“The findings support previous research, which revealed that companies will not be expanding the supply of redundant facilities in light of security threats,” said Richard Kadzis, director of marketing and membership for IDRC.
