Crossbow Technology releases security solution for perimeter monitoring, intrusion detection

March 16, 2005—Crossbow Technology has released a perimeter security solution using the companys MICA Mote technology and XMesh wireless mesh networking, the company says.

The MSP410 Security Solution enables such security applications as remote border security, perimeter protection, intrusion detection and identification, and occupancy monitoring.

The turn-key platform consists of eight or more simple-to-deploy Mote security packages that can sense and track vehicles or people, says Crossbow. The MSP410 security Motes are placed along a border or perimeter. By simply turning the devices on, a reliable wireless communications network is formed, allowing detections to be automatically communicated to the included Mote-View monitoring software.

A mobile or temporary electronic fence can be installed in a matter of minutes, and sensors can also be mounted for permanent installations. Sensor detection ranges from 20 to 80 feet.
