CSU launches Web site on multi-campus sustainability projects

August 17, 2007—The California State University (CSU) system has launched a Web site detailing sustainable energy practices across its 23 campuses. The site includes news, links to university policies and reports, and other resources.

The Environmental Protection Agency ranked CSU as the fourth largest college or university purchaser of renewable energy on its most recent list of “Top 10 College and University Partners.” According to EPA, CSU utilizes 78,333,573kWh of green power—11% of its total electricity usage–from renewable biomass, geothermal, solar, and wind sources.

The site highlights such initiatives as the use of nearly all recyclable materials in the new $14.5 million health sciences facility on the Palm Desert campus of CSU-San Bernardino, and the recently announced deal for an $11.9 million solar energy project at the CSU-Fresno campus.
