DBIA names 12 as winners of its Distinguished Leadership Awards 2000

Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) has announced winners of its Distinguished Leadership Awards for 2000. The new awards program was developed to recognize individuals, firms, agencies, and institutions that have demonstrated leadership in the advancement of design-build and design-build best practices. Award categories are public project owners, private project owners, and full-time faculty at accredited institutions of higher learning. Because of the high caliber of nominations received, the jury decided to add a Special Recognition Award for distinguished leadership. The list of winners follows.

  • Seattle (Washington) Public Utilities.
  • Alex Fekete, Mayor, City of Pembroke Pines, Florida
  • Charlie Dodge, City Manager, City of Pembroke Pines, Florida
  • Michael J. Courtney, Acting Deputy Director, Real Estate Div. of Dept. of General Services, State of California, Sacramento.

Private Owner

  • Dr. Michael F. Sullivan, VP Business Affairs, University of St. Thomas, St. Paul Minnesota. Academic
  • Dr. Keith R. Molenaar, Civil, Environmental& Architectural Engineering, University of Colorado at Boulder.

Special Recognition Awards

  • Dr. Victor E. Sanvido, College of Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University.
  • Dr. Barbara Jackson, Construction Management Dept., California Polytechnic State University.
  • Dr. Leonard D. Albano, PE, Dept. of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
  • Dr. Guillermo F. Salazar, Dept. of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Award recipients were honored at the Minds & Masterworks gala during the 2000 Professional Design-Build Conference in San Diego during October.
