September 22, 2004—Dean Evans & Associates have released the EMS Professional Version 9.0 and its add-on Web-based event viewing and requesting module, Virtual EMS. EMS, for Event Management System, products is used by organizations to manage the scheduling of rooms, resources, and services, and also to enable the publishing of event-related information to the Internet.
New or enhanced features in EMS Professional Version 9.0 include a new, multi-function Browser search tool that replaces a number of independent browsers, a streamlined Reservation Wizard process and a powerful tool for writing ad-hoc queries and simple custom reports called the Query Builder.
Virtual EMS, the enhanced Internet-based add-on component allows Web site visitors to see a calendar of scheduled events, search for available space or submit an event request. One of the enhancements is the availability of a Generate Custom Link function with which the user can create a link that can be emailed, embedded in a document, displayed on a Web site.
When readers click the link they are taken to a specific calendar or list of events that has already been filtered by building, event type, group, status, room or group type as dictated by the link. Other modifications include a password reminder function, an improved Browse Events tool and enhanced application security through the encryption of session state IDs and query string parameters.
