Within hours after the terrorist bombing of the USS Cole in the Yemeni port of Aden On October 12, 2000, Delta Scientific barriers were airlifted to Yemen for deployment there and nearby prospective targets. “Our barriers and bollards provide a first line of defense against car and truck bombs,” says David Dickinson, senior VP at Delta Scientific. “Our systems will stop a 15-ton (13,600 kg) vehicle at 50 mph (80 kph) and beyond. . . .We remain the only company in the world with a full line of products that meet government crash ratings.”
Delta Scientific also provided protection during the dedication of the US State Department headquarters at the Harry S Truman Building in September 2000. Delta Scientific’s TT210-SS bollards secured the diplomatic and Congressional drive entrances. The custom stainless steel bollards have lights to improve visibility at night. The bollards are raised and lowered into the guard position by a remotely controlled precision hydraulic power unit.
