July 30, 2001—Ergonomics Today contains a report about the first of three public forums on Ergonomics organized by the Department of Labor (DOL) to discuss the merits of having a federal standard. Opinions were presented on both sides of the argument, although only about a third of the individuals who submitted an intent to speak were allowed to do so. The remaining two forums will be held in Chicago, IL, and Stanford, CA. For a report on the first or second day of the forum, visit Ergoweb.com.
