June 30, 2008—The US Department of Energy (DOE) has launched a newly redesigned Building Technologies Program Web site that showcases DOE’s vision and research efforts for “net-zero” energy buildings that will produce as much energy as they use.

The site also promotes best practices in residential and commercial construction, providing builders and owners with proven design and technology strategies for saving 30% or more in energy consumption versus typical buildings built to code. The site has been streamlined by several hundred pages to focus more precisely on audience needs.

The Building Technologies Program partners with states, industry, and manufacturers to improve the energy efficiency of new and existing buildings, emphasizing using a whole building approach for maximizing efficiency. The site offers energy-efficient building practices and resources for designing, building, retrofitting, and operating commercial and residential buildings.
