DOI honors environmental achievement

November 10, 2006—The US Department of the Interior (DOI) has announced the recipients of the 2006 DOI Environmental Achievement Awards, including a student recycling initiative and improvements to a FWS facility through an environmental management system. The team award recipients are:

  • Students Against Global Abuse at Herndon High School (SAGA) Partnership with MMS—Taking the Initiative, Reston, VA.

  • The California BLM Abandoned Mine Lands Team—Boston Placer Mine Sluice Tunnel Remediation Project, Red Dog, CA.

  • JW Dalton Legacy Well Cleanup Project Team, National Petroleum Reserve, AL, BLM.

  • Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge “Green” Headquarters and Visitor Contact Station Team, Swanton, VT, FWS.
