August 19, 2002—BIOBALANCE polymers is a sustainable polyurethane system based on soybean technology and is being used by Dow Chemical to produce carpet backings. The use of BIOBALANCE reduces the dependency on petroleum-based products while supporting the agricultural community. Dow is working with Universal Textile Technologies (UTT) in the launch of this new technology. According to Dow, BIOBALANCE polymers are now available in all polyurethane non-cushioned and cushioned backings manufactured by UTT. Dow’s carpet backings, applicable for high traffic commercial applications, including the corporate, healthcare, and educational markets, are sold under The Enhancer label.
