Drawbase announces ArchiFM WebServer option for US market

ArchiFM 2000 is described as a new breed of CAFM solutions offering seamless integration from the design phase and throughout the life cycle of a building. ArchiFM’s modules are Space, Equipment/Asset Inventory, Maintenance and Tenant Management. They support the efficient management of the elements, furnishings and fittings of industrial parks, office buildings and other facilities that require regular maintenance. The newly introduced ArchiFM 2000 is by Drawbase Software, a wholly owned subsidiary of Graphisoft.

Drawbase also developed Graphisoft’s ArchiFM WebServer, an ArchiFM option that gives users thin client access to ArchiFM data and graphics via a Web browser such as Microsoft’s Internet Explorer®. The WebServer option will be available in the U.S. by year-end 2000.

Daratech analyst Bruce Jenkins sees the CAFM community migrating to the Internet and views solutions based on 3D models as well as the underlying intelligent object technology base, such as that provided by Graphisoft’s GDL object description language, as a critical competitive advantage. He identifies the combination of two trends: the growing competitive necessity of extremely effective facilities management and the increasing availability of facilities management as an on-line service leading to explosive growth in the facilities management market for all participants, for both technology suppliers and service providers.

Built on Graphisoft’s Geometric Description Language (GDL) object technology and the ArchiCAD software engine, ArchiFM supports common database engines such as Microsoft SQL Server® and Oracle®, and is compatible with ArchiCAD, AutoCAD®, MicroStation® and Drawbase, models and data.
