“DrawingSearcher accesses 6,000 AutoCAD files for Great River Energy”

Great River Energy has purchased and implemented Docupoint’s DrawingSearcher Version 2.0 at their Underwood, ND, plant to provide online access to AutoCAD drawing files. DrawingSearcher is a technical document portal designed exclusively for AutoCAD drawing files that combines the functionality of a full text search engine, Web server, and Docupoint’s acclaimed Whip-n-Post! DWF (Drawing Web Format) publishing component into a single server application.

DrawingSearcher has been installed and is in production use at Great River Energy’s Coal Creek Station facility, a 1,100-megawatt coal-fired power plant located in Underwood, North Dakota. More than 6,000 AutoCAD drawings have been indexed into the DrawingSearcher search engine and converted to DWF format. The drawings are now available online to all plant personnel through the company’s Intranet. Plant technicians will be able to locate a drawing based on the text in the drawing, such as a circuit number or instrument number. There is both a simple search and a title block search.

DrawingSearcher is designed for use with the Volo View Internet-enabled family of file viewers available from Autodesk. Additional information on DrawingSearcher, including a fully functional downloadable demo, can be obtained from Docupoint. Product screenshots are also available.
