June 17, 2002—DuPont Textiles and Interiors (DTI) Commercial Flooring announces the certification of DuPont Antron carpet fibers as Environmentally Preferable Products by Scientific Certification Systems. DuPont also announces that its Commercial Flooring is the first and only carpet fiber manufacturer to achieve this certification. The announcement was made in its showroom at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart during NeoCon in June.
As defined by Executive Order 13101, Environmental Preferable Products include products or services that have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment when compared with competing products or services that serve the same purpose. The SCS Environmentally Preferable Products Certification Program is built upon the ISO 14000 standards including life-cycle impact assessment approach as defined in ISO 14042 and the August 1999 EPA Final Guidance.
