DuPont increases recycling capability to virtually all Antron Lumena products

DuPont, the world’s largest recycler of nylon, now makes virtually all of its Antron Lumena solution dyed nylon with up to 10 percent recycled content. This was achieved with the recent completion of a nylon recycling capital investment project at the DuPont nylon plant in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

The production of Antron Lumena with recycled content, DuPont explains, is now standard practice and meets the highest fiber performance standards for carpet durability in the industry while having a significant effect on reducing consumption of virgin raw materials. Dave Bouton, business director of DuPont Commercial Fiber, explains that “millions of pounds of nylon” will be kept out of the waste stream. He adds, “To put it in perspective, DuPont sells more nylon-66 with recycled content into the commercial carpet marketplace than most other companies even supply to this market.”

DuPont was recently named by Fortune magazine the most socially responsible company of the Fortune 1000 U.S. companies.
