December 7, 2001—ProTeus II Mobile, the PDA interface for Eagle Technology’s ProTeus II Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), is reportedly the first handheld maintenance software application to store recent repair histories on the PDA and to allow technicians to create new work orders in the field. ProTeus II Mobile works on any handheld PDA running the industry-preferred Palm Operating System (Palm-OS) version 3.5 or higher, so customers can choose PDAs from popular providers such as Palm, Motorola, Handspring, and Symbol.
The advanced features give maintenance technicians access to equipment information and repair histories. The ability to create new work orders in the field contributes to fast response and accurate recordkeeping when problems are discovered during inspections or routine preventive maintenance activities.
ProTeus II Mobile’s paperless work order processing allows maintenance staff to download daily assignments to their personal handhelds, and then check off tasks, record spare parts usage, and complete work orders, returning at the end of the day to upload their information to the ProTeus II System.
